Ubuntu Power Circle

"I am, because you are"

What is it:

Ubuntu Power Circle is a psychotherapy group for adult, African American men.

Purpose:

Provide a safe, inviting, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment for adult, African American men to discuss a variety of daily occurrences (parenting, careers, relationships, family conflict, stress, etc.) from an African American male perspective.

Goal (s):

  • Facilitate and strengthen the importance of open dialogue amongst African American men about more serious topics in life that most men tend to keep to themselves.

  • Model how to appropriately have these conversations and receive appropriate feedback, suggestions, and ideas on how to manage a plethora of life challenges.

  • Minimize the isolation feelings that African American men tend to feel when they are faced with specific life dilemmas.

The group will meet weekly for six weeks.  The groups will not admit new members once the group has begun.  There will be a waitlist for potential member and once the current group is close to ending, the next potential member will be called.  Group members from the previous groups will be allowed to join if they are no new members wanting to join or the group capacity is not met. Each group will last for an hour.

Location:

The groups will be held virtually.

Date and time:

The group will be held every Wednesday @ 7 pm, eastern standard time.  The first group will begin on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Cost
